Likely Post #4

https://genius.com/Tim-mcgraw-indian-outlaw-lyrics Finally, use other sites and explore music in all it's complexities. Share with your classmates. For instance, this is a song from my youth. I grew up in Tennessee, and so kind of as a given, you could assume that I listened and do listen to country music. But more importantly, what does this song have to do with Black Music and Culture? Did this song develop in a vacuum of whiteness (probably not)? Why does Tim McGraw go into this Soulful and almost Rock-ish outro in a country song? Moreover, listen to the lyrics. What do the lyrics say about racial identity, multiracial identity, indigenous identity, or biracial identity? What are the repercussions? Let's look deeper into our own pasts, share them each other, and start to more deeply understand music and lyrics.

Prospective Post #3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAeYPfrXwk4 So, I chose this song, not because I thought people hadn't heard the song before.... because it has like half a billion listens on Spotify, but rather, I posted it as a prospective option for y'all, because it's not all about how popular it is. In this situation, I wanted to bring up a couple of things for the class and ourselves. First, is this song about the self? Is it even about sadness? Why does the music video on Youtube have only 20% of the listens that the same song has on Spotify? Is that the way the world of music is working nowadays, or is it because the video is dark and six minutes long? Does this speak to the artist's intent and integrity? What's this relationship between past and present selves? This is a post to ask questions for your classmates. Let's jam and be criticalizing about it (and criticalziing is not a word, but I liked the sound of it).

Possible Post #2

https://open.spotify.com/track/51mBmBMBM2Cb75KJBJT4qb?si=sSJajZTxTwqd2-Hh6zUaew This prolly isn't the best song to post in a potential posting, but it just get into a rhythm when I listen to it. It gives me some feels about who I want to be with, who I have spent time with, and my own self. Great song.

Intro All

Hello all, Okay, so once I get everyone in here, y'all should be able to share music with each other. This will be act as an open forum for all of the discussion sections I work with, so there'll be quite a few folks in here; be courteous, be helpful, and let's share music and talk about it. I want this space to be open. Post music when you want  ----- you might be walking around campus, but you're listening to a song that gets you really pumped or gives you some feels.... post it here ---- there's no required word limit for the posts (we'll talk in class). Here, I just want us sharing music as much as possible, especially if we're excited about it (that said, if you want to say something about a particular song, feel free (I'll give you some examples following this post of various possible posts)). Finally, for posting music, try to focus on posting with and using Spotify (it's easy to share/copy links and such), but by no means, take that...
